It was an ordinary evening. The old building\u2019s elevator creaked, as it always did, on every floor. The young couple was returning from the store \u2014 the husband carried the bags, while the wife searched for the keys in her purse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2014 We\u2019re going to get stuck again, just like last time, \u2014 she said nervously, pressing the \u201c34\u201d button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2014 Don\u2019t jinx it, \u2014 he replied with a tired smile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The elevator started moving, but suddenly stopped between floors. The light flickered. The doors opened. And on the threshold stood a huge, real bear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The woman screamed, and the man instinctively stepped in front of her to protect her. The couple stood frozen in fear, and when the bear rose up on its hind legs and began to growl, the woman was so terrified she almost fainted. The bear just stood there, breathing heavily, as if it didn\u2019t even know where it was. Around its neck hung a strap with a torn piece of rope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2014 Don\u2019t move, \u2014 the man whispered. \u2014 It probably escaped from a circus\u2026 or a wildlife reserve\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bear took a step forward, snorted, and then quietly lowered its head to the floor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2014 Oh my God\u2026 \u2014 she whispered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The man hesitated for a moment, then pressed the \u201cclose doors\u201d button, but the elevator didn\u2019t respond. The bear, as if sensing their fear, made no sound \u2014 it just breathed slowly, deeply, as though begging them not to be afraid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A minute later, footsteps and a security guard\u2019s voice echoed through the hallway:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2014 Everything\u2019s fine! That\u2019s the bear from the movie set! He escaped during filming \u2014 we\u2019ve been searching for him all over the building!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The couple could hardly believe it. But then a man in a reflective vest appeared in the corridor and shouted:<\/p>\n\n\n

\u2014 Baloo! Come here! Good boy! \u2014 The bear lifted its head, gave a soft growl, and calmly walked out of the elevator like a well-trained dog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The doors closed. The man and woman stood still until the elevator started moving again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2014 Well\u2026 \u2014 he said, still pale. \u2014 Now I understand why the rent here is so expensive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2014 Why? \u2014 she asked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
