During my assignments abroad, my husband took care of our daughters. The last time, after three long missions, I had just gotten off the plane when I received this message. He wrote, \u201cYou can stay away, the girls don\u2019t want to see you anymore, I\u2019ve changed the locks, it\u2019s over between us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I didn\u2019t understand. I expected to receive a message asking how my flight went or maybe to discuss what time I\u2019d be home, but instead, I got this. A cold, unexpected message with no explanation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We had been together for 15 years, and never in my wildest dreams did I imagine such a breakup. Our relationship had always been quite harmonious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After all these years, he had decided to divorce, and he didn\u2019t even wait for me to come home to talk to me, to discuss what wasn\u2019t going right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I came home, what I found shattered me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not only had he left me with no word, but by digging through his things, I found messages and clear evidence of his infidelity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He had been cheating on me for months with another woman.<\/p>\n\n\n

The betrayal was even more painful knowing that he had, all this time, acted as if everything was fine at home with our daughters, all while building a double life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After this shock, I didn\u2019t waste any time. I knew that my daughters and I needed stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, I contacted a lawyer, and together, we started the process for custody of the children.<\/p>\n\n\n
