I always knew my mother-in-law was a complicated woman. But even in my wildest dreams, I never imagined she would show up to my wedding in white.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That dress was practically a wedding dress: long, lace, highlighting her figure. She appeared at the registry office entrance like it was her moment on the runway. While the guests were whispering, she just smiled and said:<\/p>\n\n\n

I approached my mother-in-law with a glass of red wine \u2014 supposedly to \u201cmake peace,\u201d clink glasses, take a photo. She leaned forward slightly, and in that moment I \u201caccidentally\u201d brushed her with my hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Splashes of red wine \u2014 straight onto her white dress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOh!\u201d \u2014 she gasped, wiping the fabric. \u201cHow clumsy\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I immediately suggested:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a mirror and napkins in the bathroom. Go check, maybe it will come out.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She went in. I followed \u2014 and after making sure she was inside the stall, I quietly locked the door from outside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Returning to the guests, I calmly said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Suddenly the evening became so much lighter. The guests laughed again, the music played, and I finally felt like a bride and not a guest at someone else\u2019s family drama.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
